CHARACTER COUNTS

Character development begins at home.  However, everyone has a part to play in teaching children to be responsible and live with integrity.  Navajo reinforces good character in our students through the implementation of the nationally acclaimed character education program, Character Counts!

Character Counts! introduces six core principles called the “Pillars of Character.”

The “Six Pillars of Character” include: trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring and citizenship

They are incorporated throughout the fiber of our school culture.  Students will be using these principles to make wise choices.

As a part of Navajo's Code of Conduct, we are teaching students to make good decisions.  They are taught to use the same steps to make these decisions.  All students use the STAR model to make decisions.  The steps to this model are:

S Stop
T Think about your choices
A Act on your choices
R Review your decision
